There are many lies Christians believe- especially about their identity! As Christians we are faced with these multiple lies throughout our lifetime.
Here are the three lies that Christians today deal with, and how to over come them!
1. You are “no one”
Today it seems that Christians have a problem believing in their worth and that Jesus sees them as priceless. We let the enemy so often whisper that we will never please God and that it is impossible for God to think of us as “someone”. He does this to me using depression. You can check out this post if you’re are experiencing any struggles.
The awesome part about this is that it is true until we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and we submit our lives to him. Because when we do this we become somebody! We become like 1 Peter 2:9 says! A royal priesthood, a chosen people! Can’t no devil take that away from us!
Once I was adopted into God’s family, I became his child! I am worth something! Not because of who I am but because of who He is! It is time we stop letting the devil tell us that we aren’t worth anything!
2. You Can’t Make a Difference
Now I truly hate this lie that the enemy tells Christians. We seem to believe that since we are worthless, we can’t possibly do anything to please the Almighty God and advance his kingdom by winning souls or standing for his word. LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Look at the Old Testament. Check out pretty much every prophet at that time. They all seemed to have no one but God on their side at least once in their life. Yet, the prophets were able to be used by God in crazy, miraculous ways!
Now skip on over to the New Testament and check out people like Paul. Paul went from being this mass murderer of Christians to writing about 1/3 of the entire New Testament (In prison, mind you).
All Jesus needs to be able to use you to change the world is your willingness to be used and your obedience to him. (easier said than done, right?)
3. You are Powerless
If you are catching the pattern of these lies you’ll notice that if you believe one of them, you are viable to believe all of them. How could you feel powerful if you don’t believe you have worth? How can you believe you have worth if you don’t believe you are powerful and can make a difference?
Fortunately, this statement is also a BIG FAT LIE.
The Bible says that no weapon formed against us shall prosper and that if God be for us, who can be against us?
Through Christ, nothing is impossible. We are called to be powerful warriors of Jesus Christ! (How awesome is that?!?)
With all these crazy lies that Satan tries to chain us in, it is important that we stay in the Word in order to know the difference between truth and a lie. I encourage you to do so!
What about you? Are there any lies that Satan tries to tell you? How do you combat them??
